Overview:
The CoreTex Competitions Team from Core Security is happy to announce the 1st Open Backdoor Hiding & Finding Contest to be held at DEFCON 0x12 this year! Hiding a backdoor in open source code that will be subjected to the scrutiny of security auditors by the hundredths may not be an easy task. Positively and unequivocally identifying a cleverly hidden backdoor may be extremely difficult as well. But doing both things at DEFCON 0x12 could be a lot of fun!
Title: Exploiting Digital Cameras
Presenter: Oren Isacson and Alfredo Ortega, Senior Exploit Writers

Overview:
This talk will present reverse-engineering techniques designed for use on Cannon digital cameras that allow for the takeover of the devices to exploit interesting security threats using only a compromised memory card. In addition to hacking the camera itself, this realistic attack scenario illustrates a larger issue as so many people use such removable media in unsecured or under-secured computers without understanding the involved security risks. The involved attack vector leaves users of digital cameras vulnerable to many threats including privacy invasion, as well as attacks targeting camera storage (e.g., deletion and ransomware).
